At Candletrees we provide retirement, turnaway and youngstock livery services. The quality of care to our horses and their owners is paramount. Being dedicated equine lovers ourselves, we provide the same exacting standards to our clients' horses as we do our own.
Retirement Livery
At Candletrees the quality of care to our horses and their owners is paramount. being dedicated equine lovers ourselves, we provide the same exacting standards to our clients horses as we do our own.
We have two retirement herds one geldings & one mares, each consisting of no more than 16 horses per herd. Both the mares and geldings are grazed over 60 acres per herd, and rotated onto fresh grazing for summer and winter (30 acres per season per herd).
Our winter grazing comes with large hard standing feed sites which we feed out adlib haylage all winter (and summer if needed). Each field has natural and main water supplies with high hedgerows for shelter.
Each herd is checked twice a day, every day by our dedicated staff who are overseen by our yard manager who is a trained equine veterinary nurse, and lives on site.
Turn Away Livery;
if you are looking to take a break, or give your horse that much needed rest perhaps temporary turn away livery would suit you both.
Our turn away packages offer the same service as our retirement, however we require a 3 month minimum stay so as not to disrupt the herds. We do not provide or allow ridden services with our turnaway option as it disrupts the herds too much.
Youngstock Livery;
Candletrees specialises in the care and development of youngstock. If you are looking for a safe, secure & caring environment for your young stock to thrive there is no better place than Candletrees.
Our Youngstock packages are fully comprehensive. These range from 24/7 turn out in post and rail fenced grazing, to barn livery including a dedicated handling and basic ground work tuition. Packages can be discussed and tailored appropriately. Candletrees general ground work includes, halter training, picking feet up, farrier, loading into a trailer, long lining, basic lunging, tack on / tack off.
Barn Livery;
Candletrees barn livery is available in addition to all of our packages, if you feel your equine deserves that extra special TLC.
Within our barn livery we provide a 30ft by 30ft bay, per every two horses. They are on a thick straw bed including one large bale of hay per horse. They are out by day and in by night, in the summer we like to provide 24/7 turnout. If you require your horse to be in during the summer days then this is also available with the barn livery package.
